Work

Last October, I joined Lingoda as a Sr. Product Designer in Berlin. I’ll be working on making language learning more fun and effective in the digital classroom.

Some previous work? During my 6 years at Klarna, I got to help people to save more of their money in Sweden and Germany. And check out this Medium article about signing up for the Klarna Card in Germany. My last project was to launch cashback worldwide.

Other projects

  • I got inspired by my sister and all the old maps I have, so I’m currently trying my hand at making collages.
  • I was lucky enough to see the Eras Tour last year, and I still have a ton of beads to make bracelets and keychains with so that’s ongoing.
  • I am sporadically uploading to Flickr again and experimenting with my new little Ricoh camera.
  • Speaking of photos, you can also find me on the new foto app these days.
  • I’ve officially started German classes again now that I’m at Lingoda. Bald werde ich auch fließend Deutsch sprechen!
  • I’m a bit of a digital hoarder (fonts, icon sets, mockups, graphics.. you name it) and previously Lingo would help me make it accessible. I’m currently changing my setup to Eagle app because it’s more affordable, supports more file types, and I don’t need the cloud support from Lingo. It’s a process to organize though… 🫠

Fun stuff

  • Reading – My e-reader is always in my bag. Follow me on Goodreads or The Storygraph. My goal for this year is to stick to the physical unread books I already own (but am allowed to read them in different formats if that’s easier).
  • I recently got a subscription for cultural events in Berlin, so I’m diving into dance, theatre, etc.
  • I’ve gotten semi-accidentally very sporty. I take dance classes (modern, contemporary and hip-hop), jumping classes (those small trampolines, it’s killing!) and spinning ones. I suppose involving music is a good way to get me moving.
  • I have, dangerously, gotten into vinyl records, so I’m slowly making sure I get the ones I love dearly. Recent favorites are ISLAND’s Feels Like Air and FINNEAS’ Blood Harmony deluxe
  • Cycling always makes me happy, but being Dutch, this is mostly functional. It’s also when I do my best thinking.
  • Gaming. If my friends aren’t available, I’m creating memories in Season: A Letter to the Future or decorating my island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Noukka Signe

Product designer with 9+ years of experience.
Based in Berlin, Germany. Currently at Lingoda.

The basics

Born and raised in Amsterdam, I graduated from Communication and Multimedia Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht. My interest in media and communication started when I fell in love with photography at age 13. After saving up for my first camera, I started sharing my photography on DeviantART and Flickr.

What I do today

As a Product Designer, I oversee the development of new products and features from start to finish. This includes developing the initial concept, ensuring a seamless user experience, paying attention to even the smallest details, and implementing improvements. Together with product managers, I help set a solid strategy where user and business needs meet. To achieve these goals, I work closely with engineers, designers, analysts, and marketing teams to provide an exceptional experience for our users. I advocate for the users and work hard to solve their problems and make their lives easier while contributing to our business’s growth.

As a senior designer, I also support the design team by sharing my knowledge, mentoring new team members, and conducting hiring interviews.

I always value using my skills for good. Feel free to reach out to me if you have a project that wants to make the world a better place.

I believe in the power of storytelling, interaction, and exceptional user experience. I strive to use these elements to build strong relationships with our users.

Work history

I began my career as a designer at Triple, a full-service digital agency. Starting as an intern, I later became a full-time employee. During my time here, I worked with prominent Dutch and Belgian brands such as RTL, Vodafone, and Telenet, as well as Triple’s proprietary products like SpotOn.

After Triple, I joined Resoluut as a Visual Designer for clients such as Loyens & Loeff, OHRA, NN, and ING Netherlands.

In 2018, I joined Klarna as a Product Designer in Stockholm and moved to Berlin in March 2020 for an internal opportunity. There, I launched a variety of fintech products in different markets. From a flexible credit card in Germany, to a savings account in Sweden, and cashback worldwide.

I’m also a freelance photographer, creating creative imagery for stock agencies or doing portrait shoots with local entrepreneurs and artists. Since 2024, I’m a senior product designer at Lingoda, making language learning more fun and effective.

The little things

I prefer Android phones, and too many times, I’m the only designer around who does.

I collect way too many fonts. (Shoutout to Typeface 3 for making it more manageable.)

I love stationery and productivity. Because of this, I found a home in the Bullet Journal community. Now, I’m sort of accidentally managing an Instagram account with 100k followers and a Facebook group with 70k members. I guess you could say I also like planning and adding structure to the chaos (but not too much; I appreciate a little chaos).

I also love old cameras and collect them, preferably cheap and pre-1960.

I always had a dream to own a lot of books and have a personal library. Moving countries twice has kind of killed that dream, but buying books is still one of my favorite things to do (until I think about packing them).
